The largest African service provider, MTN has released new USSD codes for their services. This new ussd codes perform this same functions as the old ussd codes.
The new USSD codes is for credit recharge, Check balance, borrow services, buy data plans, share services, customer care and NIN-SIM linkage.
Old MTN USSD Codes
The old USSD codes used by MTN are,
180 – MTN Call center or Customer care
*556# – Check balance
*606# – Borrow airtime or Data
*555# – Credit Recharge
*131# – Data Plans
*777# – Share Services (MTN share and sell)
*785# – Verification of SIM Registration and NIN-SIM Linkage
These old codes are not working anymore. When you dial any of the MTN old codes, it will pop up a message “Y’ello! Our codes have changed” and then list the new codes.
New MTN USSD Codes
300 – MTN Call center or Customer care
*310# – Check balance
*303# – Borrow airtime or Data
*311# – Credit Recharge
*312# – Data Plans
*321# – Share Services (MTN share and sell)
*996# – Verification of SIM Registration and NIN-SIM Linkage
